Varaha Luxmi - This brass sculpture shows Boar faced incarnation of Lord Vishnu known as Varaha (Boar). It is beleived that Varaha killed a demon called Hiranyaksha and freed the Goddess Earth or Bhudevi from him from the underwaters where snakes guarded the Earth for the demon. The hooded snake under the left feet of Lord Varaha denotes that he controls them and had no fear of them. The freed goddess is seen sitting on his elbow. Another explanation of the statue is that Goddess Earth is a form of Goddess Lakshmi, who is consort of Lord Vishnu (in this case Varaha, the boar) meaning Varaha is having his consort Lakshmi on his elbow. In few statues Varaha is shown having a globe resting on his tusks that symbolizes that he freed the Goddess Earth and lifted her on his tusks to place her back in the Universe.
