It is also known as the Tirumala Temple where people visit by covering the distance of 12 km that begins from Alipiri in Tirupati. Devotees reach Tirumala the hill town where the temple is situated in Tirupati. Devotees travel on foot through a footsteps path of around 3550 steps to fulfill their vows to Venkateshwara and enjoy his blessings.

During the time period of Kali, as per the common myth, Lord Vishnu manifested himself in the temple to direct people towards salvation. Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Balaji to protect mankind from the hassles of Kaliyuga, hence, got the name Kalyuga Pratyaksha Daivam.

Popularly also known as the ‘Temple of Seven Hills’, Tirupati Balaji is embedded on the seventh peak of Tirumala Hills in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. There is a ritual named Thala neelala samarpana in which devotees sacrifice their hair at Balaji Temple. According to the ritual by giving up hair people get rid of sins and become capable to enter the pilgrimage.

The pious deity of Tirupati placed inside the temple is known by the name of Venkateswara in south India. The sacred deity of Balaji is black in color which is said to be self-transformed into the stone, hence, equipped with supreme powers. The deity is in standing posture facing the east. There are two imprints on the chest of Balaji representing Lakshmi and Padmavati. The white mark on the forehead is too long that covers the eyes and only a small part is visible.

As a part of worship Naivedhyam, darshan, aarti, and other rituals are performed by the priests. Festival season is observed throughout the year in the temple with the main event of Shri Venkateshwara Brahmotavam in the month of October.
